Worked great for my class, what little we used it. I'm a MET major that is required to take this electrical course, so it was a little outside my field of study. The book wasn't too bad, and the Eastern Education Edition (International) was actually recommended by our professor. Did everything we needed it to do.

This "Eastern Economy" paperback copy of the book contains all the same information as the hard cover, but at 1/10th the price.

I purchased this book for a class and instead of receiving the right book listed in the picture I got the international version.... wonderful. The international version has the same information, the page numbers and example numbers are not the same though. This means that when I am in class and the professor says turn to page 245 i actually have to go that page and then flip back and forth to find the real page.

My son is at Mass Maritime and would be lost without this very informative book.

I cannot be as glowing about this book as the other reviewers so far. I do like Cobb’s Abba, but I am quite unconvinced that it was also Jesus’ Abba. I accept that the characteristics Cobb ascribes to God from the Jewish tradition that shaped Jesus were probably part of how Jesus understood God, but I am not convinced that Jesus necessarily rejected some of the characteristics that Cobb rejects. In other words, I think Cobb may be guilty—as I think many other progressive Christians are—of sifting the evidence so as to find the Jesus he wants to find.I also find Cobb’s extended rant against modernity to be off the mark. What he is really ranting against is scientific materialism, which is the pathology of modernity rather than its true achievement. Christianity will only become increasingly irrelevant if it rejects modernity and turns back to premodern belief. I realize that is not what Cobb is advocating, but the book could leave one confused on that point.As I said, I like Cobb’s Abba. He outlines an understanding and emotional stance toward God that has great merit for progressive Christians. I just think the book has significant weaknesses.

Cobb's book inspires us to work hard and consistently to build a deep and joyful relationship with Abba. This relationship can lead to faith and confidence in the love and empowering power of Abba to work through people to build loving, welcoming, embracing, caring communities - uniting all races, religions, and belief systems.Cobb takes us back to the essence of Jesus' teachings, exposes fallacies in many supposedly Christian beliefs that resulted in abominations like the Holocaust, and explores common ground between Abba's message of unfailing love and the key tenets of other major religions and beliefs.Cobb is a brilliant theologian and philosopher. Those of us without his deep grounding in these fields may have trouble following some of his arguments. Nevertheless, his book is worth reading - and perhaps re-reading - just to be reminded that Abba's deepest desire is to enjoy an intimate parental relationship with each individual on Planet Earth - and the second wish is "like unto it": that we might "love [our] neighbors as ourselves."

I've enjoyed the works of Hartshorne, Griffin, and Mesle (and Griffin and Cobb's "Process Theo" introduction). However, this book was poor quality.Apart from the fact that Cobb's book is absent of scholarly notations (virtually empty of referential evidence for any of his claims), Cobb's premise itself lacks backbone. He claims to be writing about Jesus' Abba, but fails to explain and substantiate why anyone should care what Jesus thought about Abba. In fact, he undermines biblical authority; which begs the question, "Why believe Jesus' teachings at all?" It's not that there isn't evidence for the historical Jesus, but if Jesus wasn't "God" then what makes his beliefs about Abba any better than Muhammad's belief about Allah? Or the mystical incarnation of Krishna?Suffice it to say, Cobb fails on this one. And fails badly.

This book describes the God Jesus and Paul worshiped. This God is not the God that the early and late Churches promote. Their God has very little room to wiggle in view of the science that has developed. It is clear that that God has failed. There is no room for an omnipotent God in todays world. Jesus's God is a gentle nudging God who operates in you and wants the best for you. As a Christian I have been looking for a description of this God who I can believe in and work withThe book is not easy, but in the end it presents a new view of an old God.

I'm not a process person but I found Cobb give language to thoughts and ideas people I serve have. The reason in bought the book was because he would be at a conference I was attending. The book itself was a very loving picture of Abba and a correct critique of credal Christianity.My favorite part of the book was a critique of his own camp and it's failings of creating the atmosphere for Christians to love one God the God of the Bible.Cobb doesn't shy away from his beliefs and because he is able to see the faults in his own tribes thinking gives me the opportunity to really listen. He is as loving in person and his writing and I have a lot of respect for this work.His five points that he considers throughout the book are food for thought and he does a very good job explaining there implications on the church.Thank you Dr Cobb for this book and for signing my copy.

I have read John Cobb's excellent process theology books for years (I'm 82). He integrated in this book his brilliant grasp of the content with his personal faith. I really liked his affirming his own position that for him Jesus is the Way and the Truth and the Life and, yet, with full respect for, and in unconditional dialogue with, those who would disagree. His great wisdom so well articulated in his latter years is a great inspiration for me in my latter years to "keep on keeping on." Thanks John!

Roger LeRoy Miller, Ph.D. has served on the faculty of several universities, including the University of Washington, Clemson University, and the University of Miami School of Law. As a professor, he has taught intellectual property law and entertainment law, among other subjects. A widely published and respected author, his work has appeared in the Insurance Counsel Journal, Defense Research, California Trial Lawyers Journal, Antitrust Bulletin, Wisconsin Law Review, and Connecticut Law Review. He has authored or co-authored numerous authoritative textbooks on law, including BUSINESS LAW: TEXT & CASES; BUSINESS LAW TODAY: TEXT & SUMMARIZED CASES; and THE LEGAL ENVIRONMENT TODAY. Great book.

This book was one of my most expensive books that I have boughten for college. I really enjoyed this book, and learned a lot about what law truly is. I was initially planning on selling this book back to my book store or to amazon, but i thinking that i am going to keep the book to look back upon in the future. Very easy to read and shows many real world examples with case numbers.

This is absolutely my FAVORITE Jane Henry novel to date. Henry’s writing is exquisite, her characterization is masterful, and the plot is so compelling I couldn’t put “Deliverance” down. Not only is it an EXCEPTIONALLY well-written erotic romance, it also portrays some of the realities that families must face when they have a child “on the spectrum”. (one who is diagnosed with some degree of what used to be called Asperger’s or Autism) In “Deliverance”, Henry’s portrayal is both realistic and compassionate, and I say this as one who taught youth challenged by Autism and/or Asperger’s for many years and as a grandmother blessed with a grandson who is on the spectrum. Add this to what is arguably the most romantic book I’ve read this year, and it becomes evident why “Deliverance” has my BEST BOOK of 2018 nomination! Within its pages Henry delivers HOPE. The hope that if we work together for the greater good of all individuals, this world becomes a better place. Henry does all of this through telling us the story of Tobias and Diana. First, you need to know the chemistry between Diana and Tobias is off the charts sexy. This reader/reviewer loves how this big, experienced BDSM Dom controls his emotions, lust, and longing to bring Diana into his world slowly – even though she is a complete novice and unsure how she feels about it all. Around them, life happens, and when life happens, it usually happens quickly. So, in “Deliverance”, readers get a glimpse of a world that is bursting at the seams with what seems to be chaos, conflict, and destruction. Yet we get to watch how Henry’s characters react and then rise to face every trial, turning to each other for the strength to meet what they must head-on, and relying on friends to help them along the way. Then, in the reading of “Deliverance”, readers are imperceptibly challenged to be the best we can be. Which is why this reader/reviewer can say with impunity that “Deliverance” is a must-read for any romance reader. So, don’t let the erotic nature of this love story offend; instead, accept this challenge to read outside of preconceived boundaries and allow yourself to experience the hope and strength found within the pages of Jane Henry’s “Deliverance”. While I was given an ARC copy of “Deliverance” to prepare this honest voluntary review, I plan to purchase a copy for myself and perhaps at least one other for members of my family. I strongly suggest you get your copy of the best book of 2018, today! Happy pages! 😉

I believe that a good book should allow you to step into the story and identify with at least one of the characters. That is exactly what "Deliverance" does. Written from a dual point of view – the hero's, Tobias, and the heroine’s, Diana – it helps the readers find common aspects of their lives in the adventures depicted. Tobias has always been a carer and a provider for his younger siblings. His life story moves around his family, and he has done well. Diana is the young woman who dreamed of a family and children; yet, life has not been kind to her: faced with the burden of caring for a special needs son, her husband divorces her. She is by no means a failure, she has a business of her own and she takes good care of her son, Chad.However, when she mistakes her former lover's car with that of Tobias, and keys it, she finds herself in a bigger trouble than she had anticipated: the insurance company would not pay for intentional damage, the repairs are expensive, and the owner angry with her. The meeting between the two of them is full of sparks, humor, and chemistry. And the relationship between them develops quickly, incorporating fun and light touches of D/s.The surprise of the book is not that Diana gets and enjoys some good spankings – after all, the series is called "NYC Doms", readers should expect elements of BDSM. So, a word of advice, if you’re easily offended by a woman enjoying some discipline, perhaps you picked the wrong book.The unexpected character of this book is Diana's son, Chad, a sweet little boy with special needs. A kid with habits, likes, and dislikes, with certain ways of doing things, who – at first sight – seems to be just a spoiled brat. But several scenes portray him and his struggles in a very simple, accessible way; even those readers who never gave a thought about kids on the spectrum start to think. What if that obnoxious little child in our neighborhood is not just a menace, but someone trying to fit in our not-so-perfect world? What if those parents who are always in a hurry, who never stop for a chat with you, are simply too busy thinking of their precious little one to care about neighborhood parties or petty problems? What if we stopped gossiping, because we never really know what is going on within that particular family whose members seem to care for no one or nothing but their child?My advice is to buy this book. It is a sweet, sexy story with a HEA, perfect to make you escape every day worries for some hours. But if you read it with an open mind, it might prove useful to understand those around you. And it will make you wonder. What if we stopped being judgmental towards those who do not fit our hypocritical patterns of how people should be or how they should behave? What if we opened our eyes and our minds and really saw that everyone is unique in their own way and there is no harm in trying to see things from their perspective?

I absolutely loved Deliverance by Jane Henry. It is so hot. It is the first book in the NYC Doms series. I could not put the book down. This is the story of Diana and Tobias. Diana is the single mother of a special needs child. She says she does not have time for love and that she is in control. Tobias is part owner in a BDSM club and very dominant and expects control and for women to be submissive. They meet one day when Diana mistakes his car for that of her cheating ex-boyfriend and keys it. She gets caught by Tobias and needless to say he is not happy. The story has mystery and suspense due to a serial rapist attacking, beating, raping, and even killing some of the submissive women of the club. Tobias pulls away from Diana due to the investigation. Will Tobias overcome his issues and get back with Diana? Will the police solve the crimes? Will Diana overcome her control issues? Will Diana and Tobias get their HEA? You will need to read the book to find these answers to all these questions. I definitely recommend this book and can’t wait to read the next book in the series.
