I have read many many books about Walt Disney. This book gave a different viewpoint. It was a fast read. 1928-2016-discussed movies, parks and personalities. I love Walt and what he accomplished and that his legacy carries on today.

The book was informative, but I found the timeline format to be distracting. In that regard, the title is very misleading as it’s more timeline format than actual story.

Great read makes you want to know more. I had a lot of those "oh really moments"

I was looking for something to read so I combined my love of Disney with books and this presented itself. This has some very little known facts that I was surprised by. I highly recommend this to anyone looking for a fantastic read that is passionate about Disney. The book is updated all the way through the opening of Shanghai Disney.

This is the second book I’ve read by Aaron Goldberg! I’ve enjoyed both of them and would recommend to anyone. Disney enthusiast or not!

This updated edition corrects the few errors that I noticed in the earlier one, and includes newer results that appeared in the literature after the publication of the first edition.Of the dozens of books on computational modeling that I have read, all of the rest seem to be aimed at an audience of mathematicians who develop computational methods. In contrast, this is the only book I have found aimed at an audience of chemists who are primarily interested in using extant computational tools to answer "chemistry" questions without necessarily worrying about what is "under the hood." At the same time, sufficient theoretical background is included to give users a firm grasp of the scope and limitations of any particular method.An exceptional work, a Magnum Opus, meticulously thorough and rigorously documented. I recommend it without hesitation or qualification.

The second edition of Bachrach's book is even better, and more detailed, than the first. It is written for the organic experimentalist, not the mathematician or theorist. It is a superb introduction to the computational tools and techniques available to help plan experiments, and to interpret the results. It should be on the bookshelf of every student of organic chemistry, and every practicing organic chemist.

The second edition of Bachrach's book (for comments about the 1-st edition see my older review) is a nice addition to the collection of computational quantum chemistry books which comes with extended and updated chapters along with two brand-new chapters.The new chapters are one about "Computed Spectral Properties and Structure Identification" and another about "Computational Approaches to Understanding Enzymes". The former is especially important for the identification of natural organic compounds which are extracted from plants or living organisms and do require an identification of their molecular structure using spectroscopic/crystallographic methods - computed spectroscopic properties represent a powerful tool for the identification process because upon comparing them against the experimental data it is possible to assign the correct 3D structure to the novel compound.The latter chapter is useful for those intending to study biological systems with the aid of QM/MM methods. With these methods one can treat the important residues in the active site and the substrate at the QM level while the remaining atoms of the enzyme can be treated at the MM level. On his website, the author maintains a blog with novel information and a lively discussion about the topics treated inside the book. I have to agree with the other reviews, that the storyline is great but the short chapters are annoying enough to make me angry. I read complete books in a day and these chapters in an hour just to wait and pay 2.99 for the next is ridiculous. The author isn't going to have anyone want to read any of her work because of this format. REALLY DISAPPOINTED. I feel like a sucker for reading these up to this point and have lost interest in the storyline.

With her new mission, Amel is off to help The Dark Prince some allies. As a result, it leaves her in servitude. With a lack of knowledge of the culture, Amel unknowingly submits Rak to a challenge of his crown. With each book, things get more and more serious! I had doubts about Rak, but he's growing on me.

I liked this but didn’t like this. How to explain?.. I probably needed to read this from the beginning. This seems to be book five in a series and I could tell I was missing a lot of important info. Great imagination and world building but I would recommend reading the previous books first.

A lot happened.I was left with wanting to find out what happened next.Then it ended with a cliff hanger lol.Will be looking forward to book 16.

While I wouldn't classify this as a great book, it is a very endearing book. I have read it many times and always enjoy it thoroughly. Years ago I read it out loud to my son and we would laugh so hard we could barely get through a chapter. My son is now 52! After these many years havinggiven away many copies, I was delighted to be able to get it on my Kindle and read it once again. I find it has lost none of it's enchantment overthe years, in fact, because it of a simpler time, it may be even more enjoyable. By getting to know the young Gerald Durrell and his unusual andcharming family, it is easy to see how he became such an animal expert and conservator.

I must admit, I only made it to page 35 but soon realized I was in company with people I didn't much like. The mother was likable, the others not so much with the mean-spirited Larry especially, who is super critical & voices his unpleasant opinion freely. The descriptions were a bit over-done, getting lost in all the adjectives and big words rather than what the folks were experiencing. I really didn't take to it, didn't like the characters, didn't like the tiny book with the tiny print & all in all, did not have a great experience. I figure by page 35, if I don't like the people & get tired of the over-done descriptions, I may as well put it down & find something else. I see other reviewers being trashed for having negative opinions about this book which I think unfair, unkind & unnecessary.

Originally published in 1955, this is part of a group of books of that period that celebrated odd characters and an alternative childhood to the sterile conservative world of 1950s America and of course included "Auntie Mame", "Life With Father", and "Cheaper By The Dozen". LIke the others, although decades later, this first book of the "Corfu Trilogy" is now a British/PBS TV cooperative venture.While serving as much of the source for the TV show, this book alone still manages to be as different from the TV show as it is from the reality depicted in Haag's biography of the Durrell family "The Durrells In Corfu", which I bought along with "My Family And Other Animals". The writing is not great---apparently Gerry Durrell never went to school after the last effort, forced on him at age 9 or so, but it has a certain British sense of humor that is engaging. I enjoyed reading it, and am finding the biography just as entertaining.One can only wonder what might have happened if formal education and better discipline had played a greater role in the Durrell family's upbringing, but as they are all dead, and we are left with the rather fanciful story of their life on this enchanted island, in the sunset of it's pre-tourist idyll, we can only sit back and go along for the ride and it's a fun ride.

This is one of my all time favorite books. However I was unhappily surprised by the small size of the book and the number of typos. Perhaps I missed the size description when shopping but the typos are inexcusable. All that said I am happy to own a new copy that should last the many re-readings to come.

I consider this to be one of the best books I have ever read. You might as well start by reading it aloud to someone you love because you are going to be reading them all of the funny parts anyhow. The descriptions of the island are so magical, I feel like I've been there. Not yet, but I hope someday. I can't tell you how many times I've read it, but I can tell you it never gets old. I'm happy to have it on my kindle now so I can dive in at any time. Oh yeah, besides all that, having a child naturalist as storyteller - very informative as well.

I remember reading this in our English literature class at school when I was (I am guessing) about 12 or 13.....so that's some 40 years ago now. The title and book cover made me and my school mates (yes - us, the rugby playing, girl-chasing brigade) think that we were above this sort of boring stuff......and then we read it.....and it was awesome. Gerald Durrell may not have gone down in the pantheon of the world's most famous literary scholars, but trust me when I tell you that this book is a delight to read - and catch the 2017 ITV (UK) and Masterpiece (PBS) "Durrell's in Corfu" TV series which is based on this book......they have done a fantastic job of that too.

This was a wonderful book about a slightly eccentric English family that moves to a Greek Island. It is told by the youngest son. He is a naturalist, so much of the book is about the animals, bugs, and birds he encounters, as well as his family and neighbors. I don't usually like overly descriptive books, I prefer a little background and then get to the point, However, his descriptions are amazing and you can see what he is seeing. I can understand why many people were disappointed in the films based on the books, because I don't see how video could possibly capture the whole feeling of the book. I heartily recommend it.

Lovely small volume of a classic read. This volume is great - a sensory delight - the cover is a treat for the eyes, and reflects the time when Spiro got 5 fat goldfish for Gerry's terrapin tanks. The whole volume is comfortable to hold and read, and the paper is high quality and feels great to the hand. The pages are a pleasure to turn, and are probably acid free - so this book will last a while. I can't tell you how pretty the embossed cover and end-papers are! And to top it off, the page edges are gilded! This is a book to keep and revisit again and again for your reading pleasure! Loved it.
