I bought "Marijuana Business" new here at Amazon for $18.00 out of curiosity. I live in Colorado, and the Denver Post recently reported that there are now more marijuana shops than there are Star Bucks in the city and county of Denver.The author, Jeff Grissler, in writing this book...is presenting himself to be an expert in successfully opening and running a marijuana dispensary. I had "high" hopes that this man knew his "turf."The buyer is given no indication that this book is focussed on the state of Colorado. The marijuana laws of each state are unique to each state, this book is limited to Colorado's framework. The author should have pointed that fact out clearly. As a potential purchaser of this book, if your interests lie outside Colorado, you will need to look elsewhere.There is a sample business plan. Probably the most critical component to any business venture. The writing in this critical section is mechanical, and not very insightful. Considering the topic, it's very generic. You could almost use this generic information as a simple framework for any number of business ventures. The issue is that a marijuana dispensary is very specialized and highly regulated business to be given such a generic frame work. More importantly, the data tables in the business plan intended to present to the reader approximate expenditures are ALL $0.0 for each of the entries. There are NO projected expenditures presented for a person to aid them in developing their own business plan. The most obvious impression that this screams to the reader is, "As the expert author of this book, I have NO experience".Further in the book the reader will find Pages 138 -145. All of these pages are simply formatted sets of multiple photos, with no captions to explain what the images mean or represent. It is a meaningless inclusion that further demonstrates that the author has NO experience, and most likely does not know what the images represent.There are many critical chapters that should absolutely contain detailed information. These are logical chapters to include in a book of this type, yet these chapters are one page in length. Information that is presented, is limited and again generic. These chapters are one page in length because the expert writer of this book has NO experience.There are nearly 50 pages in the book that are blank...nothing on them...nada. Most are strategically placed as if to hide the fact that there are so many "Chapters" that are one page in length. They also serve to boost page count.It is obvious that the author has researched his topic concerning Colorado State Law and marijuana. This research is alluded to, but sadly not presented with helpful insight for a person wishing a detailed presentation of these regulations, so as to avoid legal issues in starting a marijuana dispensary. This is a new industry, and it is never made clear that the LAWS governing this industry are changing almost monthly at the time this review is written...the author never mentions that most counties in Colorado have chosen, via referendum, not to legalize marijuana dispensaries within their boundaries. For a book that is focussed on starting a marijuana dispensary in Colorado, there is NO county by county presentation of local restrictions, regulations or limitations. It is the counties and communities that set local requirements for obtaining legal licensing and allow or reject operating a dispensary. Information that is presented is general and generic in its scope and sequence.Jeff does seem to understand people and his general advice on employees was astoundingly insightful. So I researched the author to try and determine where he at least gained this knowledge. I didn't have to look farther than his amazon page, Jeff is a hair dresser, and author of many books on "Starting Up and Running Successful Salons". Well at least Jeff is an expert in something. I gave the book 2 stars because of this content., it is very insightful. I'm also guessing that if I were to buy any of Jeff's 27 books on salons, I would have gained the same knowledge for less money, I would most likely also recognize much of the content of this book.If you are seeking a great book on starting a "Marijuana Business" in the state of Colorado, it has not been written yet. By the way...I have the same level of knowledge as Jeff in running a marijuana dispensary, which is absolutely NOTHING...and that is after I read Jeff's book.Update 25th November 2014:For those interested in starting a marijuana business, there is a six part miniseries that will focus on several Colorado entrepreneurs. The series will detail their businesses and what they had to overcome to get their businesses off the ground in the state of Colorado.This 2014 Thanksgiving weekend, MSNBC will premiere "Pot Barons of Colorado." The six-part documentary series will air on Sundays at 10pm ET/PT beginning November 30th. There will be a special Sneak Peek of the first episode airing Friday, November 28th. Purchased brand new for my nursing class. Came in 2 days with Prime and had an access code. I highly recommend purchasing books outside of school because it's cheaper! Way worth it.

I personally am not a huge fan of the way this Skills book is set up, but I love having it on hand before I go to Lab and during my personal practice time. It is well written, it could just be organized in a way that is less focused on jamming information on a page and more about the actual skills themselves. It is so great for first year students though and I loved studying with it before my first lab test!

Purchased this to use with my clinical students until I received my complimentary copy for my office. These checklists seem up to date with the latest research on how to perform nursing skills. The students seem to love the fact that the lists are up to date, easy to read and portable. Good product.

I’ve been a fan of Jackie’s work for years, since I discovered ‘A Poem About Weed’ on YouTube. I bought this book and read it in one day as I nursed my newborn round the clock (shout out to the brand-new and sleep-deprived mamas out there!)I found Jackie’s story captivating and descriptive while avoiding the graphic tastelessness that sometimes characterizes people’s stories of sexual sin. This prose is clearly written by a woman with the heart of a poet; I couldn’t help but be reminded of Toni Morrison’s Beloved as I read it, the first novel I ever encountered that was written in a stream of consciousness. It’s unusual and the metaphors are thick and heavy if you aren’t used to that style, but for those of us familiar with Jackie’s work this should come as no surprise.What did surprise me was how carelessly edited it was. Grammatical errors, incorrect word usage (ie: using the word “weary” when the one that was needed was “wary”) and convoluted sentence structure detracted from the quality of an otherwise solid piece of work.Finally, while Jackie 100% achieves her goal of eclipsing her story with The Story she really wants us to focus on—the one of who God is and what He did in her life—(well done Jackie!!!!) I was a little disappointed at how abruptly she abandons her own narrative at the end and launches into a completely theological discussion divorced from the powerful object lesson of her life and story. She ends it like a Jane Austen novel—right at the door of the relationship we’ve been rooting for. She and Preston are finally together, they overcome the obstacles to their marriage, they get married...and the door shuts in our faces (with the exception of her thoughts about Eden). We have no right to know more. No right to demand details. But given that we’ve been exploring the goodness of God along the path of Jackie’s life, salvation and relationships, I thought the book would have concluded better if she had woven the heavy theological ending together with how she and Preston are navigating marriage with the Lord today.Overall a great start for Jackie and one that no doubt is bringing glory and honor to God as she hoped and intended. The chapter on the heterosexual gospel needs to be shouted from the rooftops! Thank you Jackie for your transparency and your surrender. Can’t wait for your next one.

This book was hard to read, for several reasons. The whole "gay is a sin" "God can turn you straight" mindset is strong in this book, and as a bisexual woman I felt hurt reading it, and also for the author. She put so much pressure on herself to find wholeness and the love of God, that she changed a prominent aspect of who she is to do so. I'm happy the author found wholeness, I am. But there are a lot of negative implications associated with that mindset. I believe God loves you no matter who you are.

The book is poetic literature. I love how she shares her journey throughout each chapter and then she bust out that bible scripture later in the book. 🔥 She touches on a lot of issues Christians don’t know how to deal with when it comes to homosexuality and sin in general. She gets to the root of many issues. She also gives practical direction to people who struggle with it daily.Definitely a powerful book and tool whether you struggle with it or not. It does not come off as “conversion therapy” or anything like that.Highly recommend you read the book and listen to the audiobook. Jackie is the one actually reading it. VERY POWERFUL READ! HIGHLY RECOMMENDED. PSA: DONT GIFT THIS BOOK to people who are living a LGBTQ lifestyle. Only give it if the person actually wants it. And better yet, read it with them! (I am sharing as a person who previously lived as a nonchristian bisexual. I am currently a Christian and not living a bisexual lifestyle.)

“I was attracted to women before I knew how to spell my name.”So, I just finished reading this book.And I can’t recommend it enough. Jackie Hill Perry’s writing is poetic and honest and vulnerable. She talks about her childhood and her relationship with her father. Near the beginning of the book there is a heartbreaking scene where Jackie comes out to her mother when they are in the car together. There are also chronological anecdotes about her youth and early relationships. Interspersed between these scenes are scriptures that Jackie comes to understand the more she discovers about Christ.I don’t want to give spoilers, so I will just say the structure of the book was one of the things that most stood out to me. In the first part of the book, “Who I was,” she moves from Chapter 1 titled “2006” to Chapter 2 titled “6000 BC-AD 1995” and ties the story of her childhood to the story of creation and the fall. Unlike someone else commented, I actually found these tie-ins to be profound and thoughtful. Every word in “Gay Girl, Good God” read as carefully thought out. I first listened to the book as an audiobook, before going back to look at it on kindle just to see how the words appeared on the page. Listening to the book as an audiobook made it seem as if Jackie herself was telling me her story herself, and the parts about her childhood were particularly heartbreaking.In the introduction, Jackie mentions that one of the people she wrote the book for are Christians who have not always loved the gay community well. This book really opened my eyes, not just to its main subject, but also about society-defined ideas of womanhood/marriage and how those ideas can infiltrate into the church. The parts about Preston actually brought me to tears. Jackie Hill Perry talks about the pitfalls of the heterosexual gospel, and any other gospel that shifts the focus away from Christ.Wherever you stand on the issue, you should read/listen to this book. It's tender, moving, and beautiful.

Super relevant, if this was 1996. The book is all over the place, and is written in the style of that horrible 1990s IT guy who is more interested in talking down to you than actually providing helpful information. Painful to read in any decade.

Nice. Easy to follow guide.

Theis title was chosen as the textbook for an introductory class on Linux. After several weeks the class concluded it was not a good choice for an introductory text. Although the book contains a wealth of information the book lacks any ordered teaching structure which a student can build on.

I've read (not just scanned) about 15 Linux reference books of varying depth and direction. Rute is the best. If you can have only one or simply can't live knowing you don't have the definitive guide then you must grab a copy of RUTE. Check out the TOC and Preface for an idea of why I'm so enthused. Briefly, let me just say that topics covered (many and well) are each treated with respect (at least a paragraph of text, not just usage summaries that parrot the man pages) and obviously were learned in the field, not from other books. There are other reasons, but I leave them for you to discover. ENJOY.

This is a wonderfully written book, as many reviewers have said. The author has a gift for clear explanation and writes in a lucid style which is far too rare in IT books.But beware! The coverage of topics is quite uneven: be sure that it covers the material that you need.For example, the coverage of mail is a little on how SMTP, POP and IMAP work, and 17 pages covering configuration of exim and a little on sendmail, and combatting spam, It doesn't give enough detail to begin to set up or maintain a mail server. Contrast this with 40 pages on the Linux File System standard.

The only reason I gave this book three stars is that most of this info regards GNU/Linux systems that are running a 2.2 kernel. The book points out in its text that the 2.4 kernel is upcoming. As I write this, the 2.4 kernel has been around for years now, and the 2.6 kernel (non-testing) is on its way. Likewise, some non-kernel material is also *completely outdated* (sound card configuration and NFS spring to mind). This book doesn't even mention kudzu, which is the bread & butter of RedHat, Knoppix, Mandrake, etc. Another way to put this: if kudzu can't autoconfigure your ISA hardware, this book may help.However, the material in this book which is still relevent is worthwhile. If the author releases an updated edition, I'd be very tempted to buy it.
